Cara Massey, BFA, AEA
Dance, Song Performance
Cara is currently playing Gertie in Signature Theatre’s
production of OKLAHOMA in September 2010. She played
Courtney/Elle’s Mom/Whitney in LEGALLY BLONDE on Broadway
and in the national tour. Regionally, Cara has worked at
Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw, Indiana where she performed
in CABRET (Texas), ANYTHING GOES (Virtue), and BIG; THE
MUSICAL (ensemble, dance captain).
Cara began dancing at the age of 4 in a tap class at the
local rec. center in Dallas, Texas. At the age of 8 she
began extensive ballet and jazz training at the Academy of
Dance Arts, joining their junior jazz company and their
ballet company, The Dallas Repertoire Ballet. Throughout
her junior high and high school dance career, Cara played
many roles in The Dallas Repertoire Ballet’s annual
production of THE NUTCRACKER including Spanish Chocolate,
Arabian Coffee and Chinese Tea. She has also competed on
the national level with Tremaine Dance Competition, West
Coast Dance Explosion, New York City Dance Alliance and
Starlight Dance Competition where she was 1st Runner Up
Teen National Outstanding Dancer of the Year. In her
training Cara has attended many summer intensives and has
worked with many top instructors and choreographers
including, Joe Lanteri, Anne Reinking, Merrill Ashley, Suzi
Taylor, Dan Karaty, Liz Imperio, Jacques d’Amboise, Dee
Caspary, and Mia Michaels.
Cara is a graduate of The University of Michigan Musical
Theatre program.
