Dr.
Carroll (Tom) brings a unique musical background to his
medical mission of caring for people with voice disorders
as a Laryngologist. He began his singing career as a
chorister in the St. Thomas Choir of Men and Boys on
5th
Avenue in New York City and is heard as a soloist on the
recording of Christmas at St. Thomas. During that
time he was fortunate to sing in the world premier of
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Requiem”with Placido Domingo and
Sarah Brightman and on the soundtrack to the movie “Working
Girl”with Carly Simon. Tom went on to major in music
theory and history at Oberlin College with an instrument
emphasis of classical voice. He has performed vocally
in many genres including choral, a capella, rock and
musical theater.
Dr. Carroll is currently the Director of the Center for
Voice and Swallowing at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA,
treating people medically and surgically with disorders of
the speaking and singing voice. He completed a
clinical and research fellowship in Laryngology and care of
the professional voice from the University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine Voice Center after completing his
residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery
at the University of Colorado and Health Sciences Center.
