
Matthew Herrick, MFA, BFA, AEA
Vocal Technique
Matthew
has been teaching singing, acting, and speech/dialects for
years at the private and university level, most recently at
NYU - Tisch School of the Arts at CAP21. He currently
maintains a full private vocal studio in the heart of Times
Square, with students in leading roles on Broadway,
National Tours, and major regional theatres. He has also
music directed for regional theatres and studios throughout
the country and in NYC.
As a performer, Matthew recently debuted his highly
successful solo-cabaret, “Only Heaven Knows”, at Don’t Tell
Mama in midtown NYC. He also recently collaborated with
Stephen & Scott Schwartz on the pre-Broadway readings
of CHILDREN OF EDEN. He is a resident company member and
vocal coach for both Theatre East and Handcart Ensemble in
NYC. New York credits include: Carnegie Hall soloist,
multiple national commercials, “As the World Turns”,
ALCESTIS (Off-Broadway), THE BURIAL AT THEBES
(Off-Broadway), and multiple readings and showcases .
Regional credits: Jamie in THE LAST 5 YEARS, Marius in LES
MISERABLES, Adam in CHILDREN OF EDEN, Frederic in THE
PIRATES OF PENZANCE and many more.
Matthew holds an MFA in Acting from The University of Texas
at Austin with an additional emphasis in Pedagogy and
Directing. BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from Brigham
Young University with an additional emphasis in Vocal
Pedagogy.
He lives in NYC with his wife, Heather, and 3 very
exuberant children.
